There is something incredibly special about watching a baby grow through their first year, and this session was especially close to my heart. Meet Joseph Thomas, lovingly known as JT—my great nephew and has been one of my favorite little humans to photograph this past year. From his newborn session to holiday portraits, and now his one-year cake smash, it has been such a joy documenting each milestone along the way.

A Full-Year Journey in Photos

JT’s first year was captured in a way that truly tells a story. His newborn session was sweet and timeless, his holiday portraits were full of personality, and his one-year cake smash was the perfect finale to an amazing year. One-year sessions are always special, but being able to photograph all of these milestones for JT made this experience even more meaningful.

Mr. ONE-derful Cake Smash Theme

For JT’s cake smash, we chose a “Mr. ONE-derful” theme—a first for me and such a fun creative project! The classic black, gold, and white color palette gave the session a timeless yet playful feel. One of my favorite details was how perfectly the colors complemented my baby piano, which quickly became JT’s favorite part of the session.

Watching him sit at the piano, pressing the keys and laughing, was pure joy. He had an absolute blast exploring, playing, and (of course) digging into his cake.
